11 teams competed in Break the Fake Blogathon 2017, a blogging competition on fake news and disinformation, in Solutions Space PH Co-working Space in Makati City last November 21, 2017.
The Blogathon is the first event to be organized by the Break the Fake Movement, a newly-formed group of young professionals committed to fighting the issue of fake news and disinformation by leveraging technology.
The first part of the competition was composed of a seminar-workshop about media landscape and the rise of fake news. The esteemed speakers who gave their insights and shared their knowledge are Ms. Melinda de Jesus of Centre for Media Freedom and Responsibility, Jeff Canoy of ABS-CBN, and Audrey Domasian of GMA.
The event served as a media meeting, inviting volunteers, partners, youth audiences, and several other stakeholders in sharing best practices in the conversation about fake news and disinformation.
